How the tattoo preview works

Three steps from a design file to seeing it on your own skin — no account, no payment, nothing installed.

  1. 1

    Upload your tattoo design

Drop in one or more design images (PNG, JPG, WEBP). The background is removed automatically, leaving a clean cutout ready to place.

  2. 2

Add a photo of your body

Take or upload a photo of the spot you’re considering — forearm, shoulder, back, thigh, anywhere. Clear focus and even lighting give the most realistic result.

  3. 3

    Place, resize, and judge

Position the design in the editor. inkPEEK reads the depth of your photo and wraps the design to your skin’s curve and lighting — so you can judge size, angle, and placement as if it were real ink.

Not sure where on your body to put it? See the placement-specific guides for the forearm, shoulder, back, and thigh — each with photo tips for an accurate preview.

Tips for a clean cutout

inkPEEK removes the background from your design automatically so only the line work remains. A few things help it come out crisp:

  • Upload the design on a plain or transparent background — busy photos behind the art are harder to separate cleanly.
  • High-contrast line work cuts out best. Very faint or low-resolution scans can lose fine detail.
  • PNG, JPG, and WEBP all work. You can add several designs at once and arrange them together in the editor.
  • Your design is sent securely for background removal and isn't stored — see our Privacy Policy for details.

Tool FAQ

Do I need a transparent PNG of my design?

No. Upload any image — a photo of a flash sheet, a sketch, a screenshot — and the background is removed automatically. High-contrast line work on a plain background cuts out best.

Can I preview more than one design at once?

Yes. Add several designs and arrange them together in the editor — useful for sketching a sleeve or comparing two candidates side by side.

How accurate is the size in the preview?

The design is scaled relative to your body in the photo, so proportions are true to the frame. For a real-world check, measure the area and compare it against the design’s width in the preview.

Are my images uploaded or stored anywhere?

Your images are sent securely for processing, handled in memory for a single request, and never written to any database or permanent storage — nothing is kept after your session ends.

Does it work on a phone?

Yes — inkPEEK runs in the browser with nothing to install. On a phone you can take the photo and preview in one sitting.
